Common sources of emotional strain include changes in health, medications, or living situations; loss of friends and loved ones; the struggle between independence and dependence; evolving family roles; nutritional needs; retirement; financial pressures; and changes in daily purpose or routine.

Sometimes we may not fully recognize why we’re feeling “off.” We might assume that low energy, sadness, or withdrawal are simply a natural part of aging—when in reality, they may be signs of depression or anxiety.
